Erbil court postpones case against Oil Ministry leaders
Defending its oil sector independence, the KRG has so far succeeded at entangling Baghdad’s legal offensive in procedural delays.
ERBIL – The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) lawsuit against several federal Oil Ministry leaders was delayed Wednesday — the latest development in a series of legal battles over the implementation of February’s landmark court decision against Kurdistan’s oil sector.
Wednesday’s hearing at the Erbil Court of Criminal Investigation was postponed because the defendants, including Oil Minister Ihsan Ismaael, did not show up, according to a legal official familiar with the proceedings. The next hearing is scheduled for July 4.
